“Hello! My name is Marina (38), I have two children Mariia (9) and Marta (12). We came to the USA from Ukraine city of Kyiv on 03/08/22. I decided to leave Kyiv 5 days after the start of the war since we lived near Bucha – it was very scary to stay there.
Therefore, we decided to leave for the United States, passing the border in Tijuana. after spending 17 hours with children in immigration jail. We have good friends who gave us the opportunity to live in their house.
And now for 7 months, we have been living in different American families. Moving from place to place.
Education I am a programmer, I worked at customs, and I was engaged in product certification. But without knowing the language it is very difficult to find a job.
Here in America, we met many volunteers, both Ukrainians and Americans. They helped enroll the children in schools, and they have already made many new friends.”
