SRISO hosted a meaningful and memorable Kayaking Cleanup Day in beautiful Chula Vista, bringing together Ukrainian children and their parents for an event that combined fun, community, and environmental stewardship.
With the partnership and support of Ocean Connectors, participants enjoyed a guided kayaking experience while learning about the importance of protecting our local coastline. Families paddled through the calm waters, explored the wetlands, and took part in hands-on environmental cleanup efforts.
Together, our group collected an impressive 101 pounds of trash from the bay — a powerful accomplishment that shows how much impact a community can make when working together. For many of the children and parents, this was a new and exciting experience that brought joy, connection, and a sense of purpose.
The day was filled with laughter, teamwork, and the excitement of discovering nature from the water. It was not only a fun outdoor adventure but also an opportunity for Ukrainian families to bond, learn, and contribute positively to their new home in San Diego.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ocean Connectors for providing this meaningful opportunity and for their continuous dedication to environmental education and community engagement. Their guidance and support made this experience unforgettable for all participants.
SRISO looks forward to continuing programs that bring healing, learning, and connection to our Ukrainian community.
