On Thursday, August 22nd, the Slavic Refugee and Immigrant Services Organization (SRISO), founded by Krystyna, hosted a successful fundraiser event at the Mission Beach Women’s Club in San Diego. Since its inception in 2022, SRISO has made significant strides in supporting Ukrainian refugees through temporary housing, job placement assistance, and mental health programs. This event marked another milestone in their mission to help Ukrainians settle into their new lives.

The evening, which ran from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM, was filled with community spirit, heartfelt stories, and cultural experiences. The venue was buzzing with the sound of Ukrainian music performed live, creating a warm and vibrant atmosphere. Attendees, including families, friends, and colleagues, gathered to support SRISO’s impactful programs.

One of the evening’s highlights was a wine tasting session led by a local sommelier, who guided participants through a selection of fine wines, adding an air of sophistication to the event. Guests also enjoyed a traditional Ukrainian dinner, lovingly prepared and served by Need to Eat Cafe, a restaurant owned by Ukrainian refugees in Poway. The meal not only satisfied the palate but also symbolized the resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of the Ukrainian community.

Throughout the night, attendees were moved by inspiring stories shared by members of the Ukrainian community, detailing their journeys and the support they’ve received from SRISO. These powerful stories underscored the importance of the organization’s work in providing essential mental health resources and job placement assistance to refugees in San Diego.

The event also featured a silent auction with a variety of exciting items, sparking a competitive spirit among guests. All proceeds from the auction, along with donations made throughout the evening, will go directly toward SRISO’s programs, helping to continue their efforts in offering critical support to Ukrainian refugees.

Krystyna expressed her gratitude to the attendees, volunteers, and donors, noting the significance of their contributions. “We are building more than just a support network—we are building a community where Ukrainians can feel at home,” she said.

The fundraiser was a resounding success, bringing together the local community to uplift and empower Ukrainian refugees in San Diego. Thanks to the generosity of those who attended, SRISO will be able to expand its services, ensuring that the needs of Ukrainian refugees are met during these challenging times.

With ongoing support, SRISO continues its mission to provide a strong foundation for Ukrainian families, ensuring they have the resources they need to thrive in their new home.
